Why fresh?
What does fresh mean? Is that raw?
Think of it like a home-cooked meal for your dog – not processed, not raw, just real food made with love and care. This way, your dog gets all the benefits of fresh ingredients without being exposed to dangerous pathogens like e. coli and salmonella that can be present in raw food.
When we say “fresh”, we mean food made with human-grade, whole ingredients, gently cooked, and never contains preservatives. At WildKind, we believe the cooking method makes a difference. We use a French technique called “sous vide”, where the food is vacuum-sealed and cooked at a precise, low temperature in a water bath. This locks in natural nutrients and flavours that traditional cooking methods simply can’t replicate.
There’s nothing mysterious about what we’re doing: it’s like home-cooking for our own dogs, but nutritionally balanced and made convenient.
Why should I feed fresh?
We all know the saying, “you are what you eat”. The same goes for our dogs. At WildKind, we believe there’s a big difference between surviving and thriving.
Scientific research increasingly highlights the immense health benefits of fresh food diets and exposes the hidden risks in many commercial dog food manufacturing processes. Misleading labels can make it hard to know what’s really inside, with some products hiding questionable ingredients like poultry waste, sawdust, expired food, and even meat from diseased animals.
Feeding fresh means giving your dog the closest thing to a homemade, nutritious meal. Our fresh food is made with real, whole ingredients, providing essential nutrients that are easier for your dog’s body to absorb. You’ll likely notice benefits like more energy, a shinier coat, better digestion, and overall improved well-being.
Do I need to add any supplements when feeding my dog WildKind meals?
You don’t need to add supplements when feeding your dog WildKind meals – unless your vet recommends them for specific condition. Our recipes are formulated to exceed the nutritional standards set by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials), the organization that establishes guidelines to ensure pet foods are nutritionally balanced and complete.
This means WildKind meals provide all the essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your dog needs for optimal health. You can rest easy knowing that your dog is getting a fully balanced meal with every serving.
Why can’t I just cook dog food at home?
You can! The key is ensuring the meals are complete and balanced. Dogs need about 40 essential nutrients, each vital for their health. Without thorough research, it’s easy to create meals that lack balance or miss essential nutrients, leading to diseases such as malnutrition or obesity which can ultimately be fatal.
WildKind meals are crafted to be nutritionally complete and balanced, so your dog gets everything they need without the guesswork. Plus, rotating protein sources is highly beneficial for their health, and we make that simple for you.
What should I be aware of if it’s first time for me to try fresh dog food? What’s included in my starter box?
If you’re new to fresh dog food, the key is a gradual transition as it takes time for your dog’s digestive system to adjust smoothly. Start by mixing a small portion of WildKind meals with your dog’s current food, gradually increasing the amount during the transition period.
The good news? The starter box includes all the guidelines you need. Plus, the meals in the starter pack are already pre-portioned to factor in the transition plan, ensuring a smooth adjustment for your dog.
In your starter box, we’ve got everything you need:
1. WildKind meals, perfectly tailored to your dog’s needs and pre-portioned to align with the transition plan
2. A comprehensive transition plan and feeding guide
3. Ice packs to keep your dog’s meal fresh

Believe us, even this small change can make a world of difference, helping your dog live a healthier, happier life by your side.

For puppies, we recommend waiting until they reach adulthood. However, we’re excited to share that we’re currently developing puppy recipes – so stay tuned!
Can I just choose one recipe? Why provide variety? Isn’t sticking to the same old protein safer for my pet?
At WildKind, we believe variety is key to your dog’s health and happiness. Switching up recipes means your dog benefits from a wider range of nutrients, as each meal has its own unique profile.
Plus, rotating proteins helps reduce the risk of developing food allergies, which can happen when your dog stick to the same food for too long. And every dog loves a bit of excitement at mealtime, just like we do! Variety keeps them interested and excited for every meal.
If your dog has any known allergies, just let us know when you fill out the quiz, and we’ll skip recipes with those ingredients. If you have any other questions or concerns, we’re here to help. Just WhatsApp at [contact info] – we’ve got you covered!
Where do you source your ingredients from?
We take ingredient sourcing very seriously because your dog deserves the very best. That’s why we partner with trusted supermarkets and suppliers to ensure all our ingredients are top-quality, human-grade, and whole food. From fresh meats to vibrant vegetables and fruits, everything that goes into your dog’s bowl meets the same standards you’d expect for yourself.
How do you ensure the quality and safety of your ingredients?
We only partner with supermarkets and suppliers who adhere to strict food safety standards, so you can be sure every ingredient meets our high-quality criteria. In fact, every single ingredient is safe for both humans and your dog (and yes, sometimes we take a bite ourselves when the meal is cooked!)
What steps do you take to ensure food safety during production?
We stick to strict food safety protocols to make sure your dog’s meals are safe. This includes regular kitchen and equipment sanitation, training for our team on proper food handling, and thorough inspections to keep everything clean and up to standard.
How is WildKind made?
WildKind diets are prepared in a human-grade kitchen using only human-grade ingredients. We cook the food gently at 80°C. We do this because nutrients in food can deteriorate at high heat so this helps keep all the valuable nutrients inside. Once cooked, the meals are cooled, portioned and frozen to keep them fresh (no preservatives!). Then, we deliver them straight to your doorstep.
Does gently-cooked retain all the nutritional values?
We cook our food gently at a controlled temperature of 80°C – just high enough to kill any harmful bacteria, but low enough to prevent damaging the bioavailability of most nutrients. This way, you can trust that your dog gets all the benefits without compromising on safety or nutrition.
Do you use any preservatives?
We don’t add any artificial preservatives – our only preservative is the freezer, keeping your dog’s food fresh and natural.
Feeding
How much should I be feeding my dog?
We carefully calculate your dog’s optimal calorie needs based on their breed, age, activity level, and ideal weight. Each meal is then pre-portioned into single-serve pouches to make feeding simple. Whether you’ve chosen our Full Meal plan or Morning Fresh / Topper Plan, all you need to do is serve the pre-portioned packet per meal.
For Full Meals, you’ll serve WildKind food for both meals of the day. With Morning Fresh, you can feed fresh in the morning or, if mornings are hectic, switch to feeding fresh in the evening – it’s completely up to you.
Every dog is unique, and some metabolize faster than others. If you notice any changes in your dog’s needs, just let us know, and we’ll help you make the right adjustments.
How should my dog make the switch / transition to your food?
Additional tips below:
- Minimize treats to avoid overloading your dog’s digestive system
- Serve meals slightly warm (mix with a bit of warm water or bone broth)
- Add a probiotic during the transition for extra gut support
How should I prepare the food for my dog?
When you get your first box, store all the packs in the freezer, except for the 1st day packs – place them into the fridge to thaw. When it’s time to feed your dog, serve the thawed pack from the fridge, and move the next meal’s pack from the freezer to the fridge to thaw.
Thawing in the fridge is best, so try to avoid thawing at room temperature. If you forget to thaw in time, you can speed it up by running the pack under cold water for a few minutes.
To keep things fresh and safe for your dog, make sure the food isn’t left out for more than 1-2 hours, and once it’s out of the fridge, it’s best not to put it back.
Do I need to cook the food further before serving it to my dog? What if my dog prefers to eat something warm?
No need to worry about cooking – our food is ready-to-serve! You can serve it directly from the fridge. It’s nutritionally balanced and fully cooked with care, so extra cooking isn’t necessary and might even lead to potential nutrient loss.
If your dog enjoys warm meals, simply add a little warm water or bone broth. This not only warms the food but also brings out its natural flavours for a more satisfying mealtime for your dog.
How long will the food stay fresh? Both in the freezer / fridge and after the meal has been thawed?
You can keep the frozen packs in the freezer for up to 5 months, and unopened packs can be kept in the chiller for up to 3 days.
